#1. Aga Khan Palace – The place carries a lot of significance as it shows the political status of Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan IIIwho built the palace in 1892. He later served as the president of the League of Nations and played an important role in the country’s freedom. The museum and picture gallery speak of the time when Gandhi spent some time here.

#2.  Parvati Hill Temple – Sitting at about 640 m above sea level in the Western Ghats, Parvati Hill Temple is one of the most picturesque places in the city. #3.  Shaniwar Wada –Shaniwar Wada had served as the fort of the Peshwa Empire when it was built back in the 18th century. However, the Peshwas lost control of the fort to the British East India Company in the early 19th century. There was an unexplained fire at the fort that destroyed most of the place. However, whatever remains of the fort makes for an interesting tourist spot. The ancient architecture of the structure has received great acclamation.

#4. Shivneri Fort – The Shivneri Fort is renowned as the birthplace of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This became one of the most important forts of the Maratha kingdom. The fort was known for its strong walls and seven huge doors. The fort was constructed to offer a safe haven to Shivaji. The fort offers a stunning view of the surrounding landscape and its rich history draws a lot of tourists.

#5.  Sinhagad Fort – Sinhagad stands about 20 km to the south-west of Pune. Sitting on an isolated cliff of the Bhuleswar range, the steep slopes offer natural protection. The bastions and walls were constructed only at key places. Sinhagad Fort has a long history. Sinha refers to ‘lion’ and gadha means ‘fort’. Ruins of tombs, temples and towers can be found throughout the place.
