With fall officially here, there are many ways to celebrate and enjoy the beautiful weather across the state of Arizona, especially in north Phoenix near Sky Crossing. From hiking to pumpkin patches and annual festivals, there are plenty of events for the whole family.

Hiking Spots Near Sky Crossing

Sky Crossing is located in North Phoenix, with easy access to freeways. This means you are only a short drive from some of the most breathtaking hiking spots in the valley. Tom’s Thumb, the north side, is one of our favorite hikes. The 3.7-mile trail offers gorgeous views of Four Peaks and is located on the McDowell Mountain Preserve. You also have the option to stay on the trail or do some climbing.

Papago Park has easy trails near Tempe. The hikes have little elevation so they are great for the family to catch the beautiful Arizona sunsets. The park is also home to an archery range, fishing lagoons, and a baseball complex.

Seasonal Events Around Sky Crossing

If you are looking to get into the fall spirit, be sure to check out the pumpkin patch at MacDonald’s Ranch in Scottsdale. The annual pumpkin patch offers a petting zoo, a gem mine where you can pan for gold, a hay maze, and other fun games.

If you are looking for a more spooky option, there are a few great haunted houses not far from Sky Crossing. Fear Farm is celebrating 20 years this year with a handful of haunted houses. Their attractions include a haunted corn maze, mini escape games, and carnival games. They also have a special attraction based on the strange Phoenix lights from 1997.

The 13th Floor Haunted House is one of the most terrifying haunted houses across the country and it is located right in Phoenix. They also have other haunted houses featuring zombies and other scary monsters.

Annual Festivals Near Sky Crossing

Each year, some festivals come to Scottsdale and the Phoenix area, right down the road from Sky Crossing. The Arizona Taco Festival is held each year at the beginning of October and is one of the most popular festivals in Scottsdale. Enjoy tacos, cocktails, and entertainment while basking in the Arizona sun.

The Spooktacular Hot Air Balloon Festival is held at Talking Stick Fields each October. For fun for the whole family, check out hot air balloons, trick or treating, games, a costume contest and plenty of food. Also, there is a haunted trail that is put on by a local high school.
